Overview

Verizon Innovative Learning HQ is Verizon’s free edtech platform for K-12 US teachers and school admins. Its main goal is to provide free resources and to encourage tech integration in the classroom regardless of subject matter. It is a live and existing website but the main problem we wanted to solve is creating a higher retention rate and redesigning the website including the home page, lesson page, and even creating a proposal for a new feature.

My Role

Throughout this project, I worked closely with designers, data analytics researchers, content strategists, copywriters, and a product manager. We also were in close discussion with the client and stakeholders.

  • Conducted Comprehensive UX Design Audits

I audited the current website and competitors' sites and walked through the site from the perspective of a new user to identify areas for improvement.

  • Designed Low to High Fidelity Wireframes

I redesigned the current homepage, creating redesigned versions for A/B testing to gain deeper insights into our target audience. We asked 20+ teachers and school administrators across the nation for live feedback.

  • Championed Internal Design Sessions

I guided one-on-one working sessions and facilitated collaborative design jams with the entire internal team.

  • Curated a Strategic Backlog

I took ownership of the backlog where I documented synthesized insights from user research interviews, internal audits, client and stakeholder discussions. I led exercises in prioritization during internal calls, guiding the team in ranking action items for future sprints, spanning changes in copy, design, software development, content, and more.

  • Conceptualized and Proposed New Features

Collaborating with another designer, we ideated and designed a feature to create a more personalized experience for a teacher or admin’s unique needs. This involved crafting user journeys, delving into site information architecture, and drawing inspiration from retail apps and edtech platforms. Our design decisions were informed by comprehensive research findings.

  • Crafted Decks for Clients

I ensured consistency and cohesion in branding, visual identity, and content for client-facing presentations. I crafted infographics to visually convey research findings and distilled design action items for clarity and brevity.
