Problem

The goal of the web app is "to AI animate any portrait in 3 easy steps."

However, the original website wasn't designed by any UX/UI designers but was coded by developers. This meant the website lacked UX research, visual components, and was over not user friendly.

Goals

I worked closely with the CEO to identify our main goals with this redesign:

1. Conduct user research to understand our current users and gain insights on pain points and joy points

2. Use findings to inform design decisions to create a more intuitive experience

The UX Research Process

1. Created survey integrated into current app

2. Gathered responses, emailed potential candidates for short screener interviews

3. Selected users into next phase of interviews

4. Conducted deep dive interviews where the users shared how they specifically use the product in their current workflow

5. Usability testing with our new prototype
   

For the screener interviews, these are some of the questions to get to know competitors, use cases, joy points, and pain points:

• What have you created with our app?

• Where have you shared your creations?

• What other creative apps have you tried?

• Walk me through a typical day where you have used this app.

• Is there anything you wish was different or better about your experience?

In this beginning phase of the design process, I began creating different variations of how the three steps might be presented in the simpliest way possible.

In this stage, I began putting placeholder images and testing out color schemes for buttons. I also began drafting out how the website might look on a mobile device.
